Philosophy

At our center, we believe that every child is a capable and curious learner, deserving of a respectful and nurturing environment. Our educational approach is grounded in fostering independence, creativity, and a love of learning through child-centered methods like the Pikler and Reggio Emilia philosophies.

Reggio Emilia Approach

The Reggio Emilia Approach is a progressive, child-centered educational philosophy that originated in the Italian town of Reggio Emilia. It views children as capable, curious, and full of potential, emphasizing their ability to actively participate in their own learning process. Central to this approach is the belief that children learn best through exploration, creativity, and collaboration with others in a supportive, enriching environment.

Pikler Approach

The Pikler Approach, developed by paediatrician Dr. Emmi Pikler, is a respectful and mindful approach to early childhood development. It focuses on creating a calm, nurturing environment where infants and young children are encouraged to move freely and develop motor skills naturally, without adult interference or pressure. Central to the Pickler philosophy is the belief that children thrive when given time and space to explore at their own pace, fostering independence, confidence, and self-initiated learning.

Key elements of the Pikler Approach include respectful caregiving, where adults interact with children in a calm, attentive manner, recognising them as capable individuals. Trust in the child’s abilities is paramount, allowing them to engage in self-directed play and movement, which promotes physical, emotional, and cognitive growth.
